Globe Theatre

Globe Theatre

The Globe Theatre is a reconstruction of the original open air Globe theatre where Shakespeare worked and for which he wrote many of his plays

The Globe Theatre is dedicated to the exploration of Shakespeare's work and the playhouse for which he wrote.

If you or your children have ever studied Shakespeare this is a great place to visit. You will find that his works make more sense when put on at this venue for which they were written. Also, the heckling from the crowd adds to the enjoyment of the play.

Be warned that the seats are rather uncomfortable but you will be able to hire cushions (or take your own).

An alternative to watching a play is to visit the Globe Exhibition and Tour where guides take you around the auditorium, bringing the space to life with colourful stories of the 1599 Globe. You can also find out about the costumes, music, special effects and the reconstruction of the building.
