London Transport Museum

London Transport Museum

Discover the history of London public transport, see vehicles and much more.

There are a whole range of activities for the family at the London Transport museum - see a bus so old it was pulled along the street by horses, get behind the driver's seat of our tube train simulator and experience journeys of a bygone era.

There are two galleries purpose built for younger visitors.

The first is the Interchange Gallery which is for kids aged from 7 to 11 with lots of hands on fun. They can try on replica costumes, guess the origins of mystery object and even drive an Optare bus.

The other gallery is called All Aboard! and is aimed at children under 6. They can climb aboard fun versions of a bus, train, Tube and taxi. They can take the wheel, becoming a driver for the day, or bump around with the other passengers in the back. They can also explore a miniature model of London, taking control of the transport system, moving buses and trains around London's most famous landmarks.

The family trail for this museum is amusingly illustrated by Guardian cartoonist Stephen Appleby and it helps families track down the major exhibits.

This is a great day out in London and you the best part is the museum has everything you need, from a baby feeding room to a picnic area.
